What was it about?
Five-story hotel located in the growing Garza Ranch development. Fully designed for cold formed metal framing.
What did I do?
With the design specs called out from the beginning, our engagement was to turn a “stick frame” concept into a panelized designed for walls, floors and roof.
What did I learn?
Projects with big windows can create a problem when you are trying to panelize walls, especially when coordinating that with extra openings (PTAC units) and bracing systems. Since the original design was done in 2D, once transitioned to 3D a lot of things can pop up revealing many potential conflicts down the road.
